A VISIT TO CAPE AGULHAS SOUTHERNMOST POINT IN AFRICA Are you one of those people who thought Cape Point is the southernmost point in Africa? Don’t feel bad, I did too. Cape Agulhas or L'Agulhas  is the southernmost coastal village and a holiday resort in Africa, located within the  Cape Agulhas Municipal (CAM) . The name "Agulhas" , Portuguese for "needles" , is said to have been given to the area because a strange magnetic anomaly occurs here where compasses point true North rather than magnetic North. This anomaly creates confusion and danger for passing ships when visibility is poor. About 250 vessels lost their way and got wrecked on the jagged rocks of Cape Agulhas. Some wrecked ships still lay scattered along the coast, many due to the treacherous Agulhas Reef. It is in memory of the countless lives lost and to warn passing ships of the pending danger of Cape Agulhas. This historical and unique place is a leisurely two and half hou

MY VISIT TO ARNISTON AN AREA FULL OF RICH HISTORY AND HIDDEN ATTRACTIONS I have been postponing my visit to the Cape Agulhas region for a while so when South African Tourism invited me to join other Travel Writers, Bloggers, Photographers and Influencers to explore Arniston, I accepted the invitation with open arms without thinking twice even though I had a planned helicopter tour in Cape Town that same weekend. I knew this trip would be one I will forever cherish amongst many, and I could always do a helicopter tour because I live near V & A Waterfront. This year’s Freedom Day marked 25 Years of Democracy in South Africa. So, South African Tourism organised this amazing event and hosted it in a local fishing village called Kassiesbaai, Arniston , to celebrate Freedom Day. Why Arniston? This was a way of promoting tourism in this beautiful small and unique fishing village with rich history and hidden adventures yet to be discovered. Let me be ho

Cape Agulhas Backpackers  was established by local residents, Malan and Erin Conradie in March 2006. After getting married, Erin and her husband Malan decided to start their honeymoon from home to see where the adventure took them. They backpacked from Cape Agulhas to Transkei . They enjoyed the adventure so much that they decided to start their own backpackers when they returned to Struisbaai , Cape Agulhas . They felt that there was a need for a backpacker in the area, they knew that their home was beautiful, very well located, they love people and they live in the best kept secret area in the Southern Hemisphere, southernmost point in Africa! Over ten years later they st

HIKING THE TABLE MOUNTAIN | FOR THE FIRST TIME Let me confess – For the past 5 years that I’ve been visiting Cape Town on annual vacations, I have never ridden in a Table Mountain Aerial cable car . My ticket days were always either cloudy and cold, long queues, not having enough time, having other plans to explore more Cape Town areas and adventures or other exciting and unique tour activities. As most of you who follow me on Instagram are aware that I made a decision to relocate to Cape Town after spending 16 years in Johannesburg, I promised myself that one of the first things I would do when I settle in Cape Town would definitely be riding in a Cable Car to the top of Table Mountain . Did I have hiking on my mind? Not at all! That mountain looks challenging by just looking at it from all angles and I always said people who hike that mountain are crazy because the Cable Car is there for a reason. One day a friend of mine asked me if I would like to join him on
