OUR STAY
Over the years, I have slept in different hotels
because my work always required me to travel a lot. I have stayed in 3, 4 and 5
star rated hotels. DAVINCI is definitely one of the great hotels that I have
stayed in.
My fiancé and I arrived at DAVINCI one
hour earlier to the hotel's normal check-in time which is 14:00 CAT. We were greeted by the pleasant
staff who escorted us inside for our check-in process. The check-in staff politely explained
to us that we were early however she would proceed with the check-in process should there be a room
available for us. After a single call, "lady-luck" was on our side because there was a room available.
We were then escorted to our corner room with the view of Sandton City
Mall on the eighth floor by our butler. On the way to our room, I noticed many
beautiful aspects of the property and elegant interior décor.
When I opened the door to our room, the first
thing that caught my attention was a beautiful white marble bathtub, grandiose
in size situated on the right side of the room, almost in the centre! On the far left next
to the window was a Nespresso machine, minibar and television.
We had the best view of the Sandton City Mall and
surrounding architectural buildings.
On the other side of the room, there was a wide desk with
drawers and a chair, closet for two, iron, ironing board, shower, basin with big mirror, toilet, two white robes, two pairs of slippers and fresh towels.
After checking that everything was in order, we changed to our comfortable clothes and it was time to inspect the rest of this amazing place! We went to the infinity pool area. The view from that side makes you appreciate the magnificent design and architectural structure of the building.
While my fiancé was relaxing on the sun benches next to the pool, I went to check out the
gym area which is situated next to the pool. The gym was fully equipped and functional but I could only be there for just 15 minutes…Oh
well, I wasn’t there for a work out after all.
Next to the pool, you’ll also find a bar and enough outside tables and chairs if you would like to order something to
drink or eat while relaxing in the pool area.
That evening we decided to enjoy our dinner in our room. We ordered room service and were informed that our food will be ready and delivered in 30 minutes. When we were still waiting for our food, I heard a knock on our door just 10 minutes later (I knew that wouldn’t be our food - it was too quick). When I opened the door there was a friendly lady with a big smile who greeted and told me that she was there to prepare a bed for us, close windows, curtains and refill our refreshments (Gosh!!! Someone was actually there to tuck us in bed - We liked it). While she was still busy, I heard another knock…it was our food. Three meal course and food was amazing (Apologies for no pictures).
The following day we went to Maximillien
restaurant for breakfast. It was a full English breakfast
buffet. Everyone was friendly and we were greeted by every staff
member that we passed on the way to our table (keep in mind that no one knew who we were). We chose to sit on the corner next to the big window so that we could enjoy the view of the Sandton City.
Our stay at DAVINCI was very short but amazing. It’s easy to see why
many visitors are impressed with the service, food, facilities and the design
of the property. The place is also calm and you sometimes forget that you are
in the middle of buzzy Sandton City with lots of people and traffic.
I wish we could’ve stayed longer to have the full experience of this
amazing place but we had to attend an event in Durban.
Would I go
back? ...mmmmmh oh definitely a big YES and for more days next time!
