I recently spent a weekend at Club Mykonos - Located on the serene shores of the scenic Langebaan Lagoon along the beautiful West Coast, this premium family friendly holiday resort offers guests three tasteful accommodation offerings from Athenian Cascades, The Terraces to the elegant comfort of the four-star Preferred units. ClubMykonos delivers an abundance of entertainment options and it’s true when they say this place will definitely transport you to your very own Greek paradise. Once inside, you will have all the entertainment, activities and facilities you would need to make your vacation a fun and memorable one!

To be honest, I had only heard about Mykonos in Greece until this year in April when I met the marketing team from Club Mykonos at the World Travel Market in Cape Town. The place immediately caught my attention and I was already planning my trip to the West Coast but my busy schedule kept pushing the date. I guess the timing was just not perfect!

When my Travel Manager asked me to research about unique destinations and tour activities around the Western Cape, and to arrange exciting overnight tour packages for local and international travellers, Club Mykonos resort immediately came into my mind. I made arrangements with the resort marketing manager and I was on my way to the West Coast, just 1 hour and 30 minutes from Cape Town, I arrived in the beautiful and quiet town of Langebaan.

On my arrival at the resort, I was welcomed by Henco Lotz (Guest Services Duty Manager) who had arranged a personal tour of the entire resort. After a very informative tour he handed me over to the friendly and professional check-in staff at the reception and the check-in process was quick, easy and efficient - a complete breeze. You also receive an envelope printed with the resort map on the outside and when you open it, you will find your apartment key cards, wrist band that gives you access to the resort facilities and Wi-Fi login details.

There are golf karts to transport guests around the resort so one was organised and I was on my way to my apartment on the beach front - Not self-drive!

Their clean and clearly well-maintained Preferred four-star one-bedroom self-cateringapartments with breath-taking ocean views have fully-equipped open-plan kitchen, open-plan lounge leading on to the balcony and a king-size bed, twin beds in the bedroom and bathroom with shower.

There's another option to sleep at Athenian Cascades, Marina Village or The Terraces units. Each unit has its own unique design elements with various sleeping capacities but all have dramatic views over the resort be it the tranquil ocean views or the unique pool and garden views.

Athenian Cascades - The more budget friendly 3-star self catering accommodation perfectly suited for larger groups that would like to be booked near to each other.

The Terraces - Compact 3-star self catering accommodation overlooking the breath-taking Marina.

Marina Village - Set right on the water in the picturesque marina of Club Mykonos, these new two and three bedroom luxury apartments will leave you speechless. You will have perfect views of the Atlantic ocean and yachts.

As you may have seen on my Instagram account, I love taking pictures of beautiful and colourful buildings, Western Cape destinations and tour activities, and sharing them on my Instagram account with the entire world so you can imagine my excitement when I saw all those bright, colourful and Greek-styled buildings.

I couldn’t stop smilling and imagining the types of pictures I would be capturing and activities I would be enjoying and sharing on my social media platforms. One has to visit this place to really understand what I am talking about!

Elite fishing Charter operates from the Club Mykonos Marina. Their vessel is moored and available for fishing charter requirements. (Weather Dependent)

Treat the daredevil in you to a high-speed inflatable boat ride across the lagoon.

ELITE WETBIKES - JETSKI

Elite Wetbikes have been established for 15 years and their experienced staff is always on hand with full instructions, every wetbike (jetski) trip has an experienced guide that makes sure of your safety and to give you any guidance you need. Approximately a 10km route from their Jetty at Club Mykonos towards Schaapen Island and back.

All riders and passengers must be able to swim and no under 16 allowed to ride on their own.

ELITE YACHT CHARTER

Elite Yacht Charter operates from the Club Mykonos Marina, where their vessels are moored and are available for charter requirements. MYKONOS CASINO

If you feel lucky and want some night adult fun, then make sure you make a turn at the fully-licensed Mykonos Casino for a game of poker, roulette, slots machines or to stand a chance to win incredible prizes by entering their gaming promotions. The main casino is a non-smoking area but there are two smoking areas too for those who prefer blowing some smokes while trying their luck on the slots. Once you have worked out an appetite, you can have a meal at Black Pearl Restaurant or grab a quick bite at the casual and trendy Marisol Diner restaurant right next to the casino.

LA VITA SPA

Wind down at the Italian inspired La Vita Spa in the Health & Leisure centre with exotic facials, manicures, pedicures, massages and so much more. La Vita has everything you need to soothe your body and relieve you of stress. This onsite spa also offers a range of hydro facilities including plunge baths, saunas, steam rooms and wet massage rooms. Conveniently located near the resort gym facilities, La Vita will assist you to relieve muscle tension and joint pain post workout.

INDOOR HEATED POOL

Club Mykonos’ environmentally friendly indoor pool is perfect for relaxing on those rare days when the sun isn’t out. It is heated up to 30ºC by solar panels that help conserve electricity and keep the pool temperate, even on cold days.

Please note that the use of swimming caps is compulsory!

OUTDOOR POOLS

Outdoor pools are scattered across the resort. Wherever you are, there’s a pool nearby with a unique character from each one – Six to be exact! You will find pools at one of these locations: Athenian Cascades cluster, on the beach at Oceanis Pool deck, at the Village cluster and the Hillside cluster. Most of them of outdoor braai area for those craving a real South African braai!

SUPER PARADISE BEACH AND HOBIE BEACH

Yes! There are two beaches inside Club Mykonos resort to be enjoyed by guests.

If you prefer the more frantic pace of table tennis to tennis then the table tennis rooms at the Health & Leisure centre is where you can get your game on. Racquets and balls are available for hire from the leisure desk.

TENNIS COURTS

Enjoy a recreational game of tennis at one of three tennis courts located at the Health & Leisure centre. Racquets and balls are available for hire from the leisure desk.

GAMES ROOM

Enjoy your downtime with a broad selection of arcade games to keep children and adults alike entertained. The Games Room, at the entrance to the casino, is filled with all popular games - from motorbikes to dancing to shooting games. No entry fee required and all ages are welcome.

CHILDREN ENTERTAINMENT - CLUB ONOS

Club Onos, is a fun-filled and supervised children’s clubhouse for children of all ages packed with jumping castles, toys and everything little ones may need to keep themselves entertained for hours. Chester the Donkey and friendly staff of Onos will go out of their way to make your little ones (or your not-so-little ones) stay entertained. This venue also hosts children’s parties and booking in advance is essential if you plan to host your little one’s birthday party.

For some quick bites you will love this snappy casual restaurant. This restaurant creates a relaxed environment for all guest to enjoy a respite from their busy day. You may also order food to be delivered to you while playing games in the casino.

Leisure Café

As the name implies, the Leisure Café is the perfect place to leisurely enjoy a meal after a swim in the indoor pool or a tennis match The Café serves light meals, tea and coffee. Free Wi-Fi is available for guests.

See the fossils of bears, sabre-tooth cats, short-necked giraffes and the many other exotic animals which inhabited the West Coast area some 5 million years ago.

Thousands of seabirds roost on sheltered islands, pristine golden beaches stretch endlessly into the early morning mist and brooding salt marshes are home to vast concentrations of migrant waders from the Northern Hemisphere.
